THE jester/

This 1:1 life-size archival study captures the manic energy and grotesque charm of the Kowakian monkey-lizard. The project focuses on high-expression facial sculpture and the realization of thin, leathery skin textures. Featuring hand-applied hair tufts and a gloss-finished oral cavity, this piece highlights the studio’s ability to bring high-energy, character-driven creatures to life.

Behind the Scenes: Character Performance

The challenge of The Jester was capturing a static moment that still felt 'alive' and energetic. I focused on the extreme asymmetry of the face—the wide, laughing maw and the squinting eyes—to replicate the character's signature cackle. The integration of the paddy frog accessory was a deliberate choice to ground the character in its environment, moving the piece from a simple bust to a complete narrative study..
