THE BEHEMOTH//puppet study

A deep-dive into the practical effects history of the character, the MK. II study was developed specifically to replicate the close-up puppet. Unlike the performance suit, the puppet featured a more nuanced, stoic expression and heavily matted, moisture-laden fur. This archival piece serves as a technical recreation of that specific cinematic texture.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Scale: 1:1 Life-size character bust.

  • Reference: Cinema-accurate study of the close-up puppet (Original Trilogy).

  • Environmental FX: Snow-blending and "matted thaw" textures using integrated frost simulants and clear-cast resins.

  • Hairwork: Dense, multi-layered synthetic fur hand-distressed to simulate moisture-laden, frozen fibers.

  • Skin Work: High-complexity paint application focusing on the translucent, weathered skin of a sub-zero apex predator.

  • Ocular Details: Custom-depth acrylic eyes finished with high-gloss textures to replicate the "wet-look" of the living puppet.

Project Overview:

Focused on the physical presence of the full-body performer costume, this archival study emphasizes the primal ferocity of the subject. The build explores high-aggression anatomical sculpture and the stark, skeletal textures of the horns, capturing the silhouette of the character’s most iconic physical performances.
